More expense codes in drop down box when entering product purchases
Not all products purchased are a 'Cost of Sales'; some of my products purchased are for use my practitioners and not for resale. I need the 2-4040 (General) codes as well please.

Further to our comment you can select any of your Ledger Codes if you tick the box "Include All Ledgers in List?" which shows above the Expense Items area as per your screenshot

You can already enter items under the General ledger code (and any other 2- code too) if required in the Expense Items area while also using the Product Purchases area to enter stock for re-sale.
Alternatively you can enter the product as stock and then use the Product Use button>New Product Use when in Products which will then keep track of who uses which products for their patients, and removes the need to enter a sale if a product is used on premises.
